Where Every Story Blooms

“Hah, ha, h-hyung. Yes, there… That’s good. Ah! Harder, harder…”

“Haah, Haero likes it here… Doesn’t it hurt?”

“It hurts, but! I-I like it… Ah, I feel like I’m dying… hnng.”

    “Then we shouldn’t…”

“No, ah! Th-that’s what I like. Haah!” Haero scratched down Yoon Moo-hwa’s spine as he tilted his head back.

Yoon Moo-hwa cupped Haero’s head to prevent it from hitting anything as he thrust upward.

With no patience to make it to the bed, he had Haero leaning against the wall just past the doorway while he penetrated him. They hadn’t even removed their duty uniforms. The captain’s hat had fallen to the floor thanks to Haero’s hands, and Yoon Moo-hwa’s tightly gripped shirt was getting thoroughly wrinkled. The necktie, tucked in the front pocket because it was bothersome, looked ready to slip out with their vigorous movements.

Haero stretched his legs out, then drew them back in. He tightly squeezed around Yoon Moo-hwa’s dick as it thrust up into him as if trying to pierce through his inner wall. Lights flashed before his eyes.

The circular window behind Yoon Moo-hwa was also glistening, probably due to this pleasure.

    “Hah, I’m going to… come, yes… Don’t stop, more ah! Harder…!”

Yoon Moo-hwa frowned with an embarrassed smile at Haero’s honest and explicit demands. But contrary to his expression, his hip movements were utterly wild. Though he wasn’t pushing to the deepest part of Haero’s inner walls for a smoother experience, he wanted to thrust all the way through.

The sleeve part of his shirt stretched taut, as if about to burst. Yoon Moo-hwa rushed toward Haero’s face. Haero hurriedly bit at the lips pressed against his.

And just as he was about to climax, a sharp whistle sound erupted. Both of them froze at the ear-splitting noise.

“Actual situation, actual situation. All hands to battle stations.”

“Fuck!” Yoon Moo-hwa pulled himself out of Haero while uttering a curse he rarely used in front of him.

Haero shuddered at the force that scraped his insides as it withdrew. He came weakly with a soft sound, but the finish wasn’t satisfying. Having grown accustomed to penetration and its excessive stimulation, coming from the front had become lukewarm at some point.

Unlike when withdrawing his dick, Yoon Moo-hwa carefully lowered Haero, who barely stood on trembling legs. Yoon Moo-hwa’s dick glistened and remained rigidly erect. He quickly stroked Haero’s dick.

    “Hnnngh!”

Haero climaxed with frustration. He wanted to just collapse right there, but this wasn’t the situation for that. Without even time to fully enjoy the afterglow, he straightened his clothes. Yoon Moo-hwa, not minding his inability to climax, cleaned his dick with a wet wipe while catching his rough breath. Then he stuffed his large dick into his underwear like cramming a torpedo into a pocket.

    “A-are you okay?”

“I have to be. You go first.” Yoon Moo-hwa spoke gently to Haero. But his voice was fierce, still not having calmed down from the interruption.

A series of precise actions followed—removing the necktie, running a hand through his hair, and putting on the fallen cap. Haero hesitated as he watched, then stepped outside.

Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, he quickly descended to see crew members moving urgently to their battle stations. Looking at the glistening night sea through the second-floor window, Haero’s mouth fell open. He had thought it looked that way because of his pleasure, but the sea was actually glowing.

On his way to the medical bay, his station, Haero met the chief medical officer.

    “What’s happening?”

“A night anglerfish has appeared.” The chief medical officer spoke with a grim expression, “It should be in West Africa, far from here—I don’t know why it’s here. Haa, what a messed-up world.”

Anglerfish are visible at night. And they live in the deep sea. For such a creature to appear here now, not even off the coast of West Africa… Moreover, if it had distinctive features warranting a combat alert, it was right to go on standby.

Haero entered the medical bay and looked out the window. Something like a small flashlight flickered on the sea. No, calling it a lighthouse would be more accurate.

Yellow light rippled like a lighthouse signaling, and it was remarkably beautiful. Even as he felt his soul might be sucked out, Haero frowned.

“That… doesn’t that look like a ship rather than an anglerfish?”

“It’s not a ship.” The chief medical officer muttered with a troubled expression, “It’s a hallucination shown by this creature. Unlike regular anglerfish, the light of a night anglerfish causes hallucinations. That’s why people get eaten when they approach thinking it’s a shipwreck, or when a shipwreck mistakes it for a rescue vessel.”

    It was spine-chilling information.

Haero turned his pale face toward the window. No matter how he looked at it, it appeared to be a ship with its lights backlit…

“Then how do we distinguish if it’s a real ship fleeing from a night anglerfish? Do we just leave it?”

“That’s why we have the Captain.” The chief medical officer answered while looking out the window with a stern expression, “The Captain’s eye will distinguish it. If it’s a distress signal, we must go. Fighting that anglerfish creature in the middle of the night is something I’d really rather avoid, but…”

    ✼✼✼

“What’s ahead is indeed a ship.”

Sighs followed Yoon Moo-hwa’s words. He had removed his eye patch, and though those on the bridge tried not to look at his eye, they knew that Yoon Moo-hwa’s eye was the only thing they could trust right now.

    “Are there survivors?”

The communications officer sent a short-wave signal. Based on the response, they would execute a rescue operation.

“Don’t look at the light for too long, and if there’s no response within 5 minutes, change course to avoid it. Turn off the engines and stop the navigation lights as well.”

Following Yoon Moo-hwa’s order, the ship’s engines immediately ceased operation.

Yoon Moo-hwa’s ship was at the front of the current formation. The cruiser escorting the merchant ships from the rear changed direction and moved away from the angler fish’s detectable range along with the merchant vessels. Now, only two cruisers, including Yoon Moo-hwa’s ship, remained within the angler fish’s territory.

The problem with night angler fish is that when they open their mouths, they literally suck in seawater like anglers. First the battle with the large shark, and now a night angler fish. This operation was far from smooth sailing. Was it because they brought Haero onboard? That child had always carried incidents and accidents like a small typhoon. Since he couldn’t take his eyes off them, and now couldn’t bear to keep them out of his sight due to his own desires, there was only one path left. To protect that child even if a series of terrible things continued to happen.

“There is no response.” After everyone waited with bated breath, the communications officer brought back the answer.

No response was the answer. It was confusing whether to feel relief or express regret for the ship that had become a ghost vessel.

Yoon Moo-hwa nodded. “Let’s lure it with a tiger shark torpedo.”

Torpedoes, which leave long trajectories on the sea surface, were quite good for luring angler fish due to their loud noise and vibration. The downside was wasting a precious torpedo. But everyone, including the deputy commander and the operations officer, agreed. Although torpedoes were valuable assets worth hundreds of millions each, the alternative was directly confronting the night angler fish. Compared to the lives of the already scarce experienced naval personnel and the reduced population, it was nothing.

The weapons officer loaded the torpedo, and it was launched according to Yoon Moo-hwa’s order. The torpedo descended deep from the ship and then approached the surface after a certain distance, creating strong vortices through rotation as it passed by the angler fish. In the current situation, where only the light was visible and the size of the angler fish was unknown, making a definite kill impossible, slowly luring it away instead of unnecessarily provoking it was the best option.

The sailors preparing on the deck also swallowed hard. The combat team, including So Eun-pa, observed the situation through the night equipment attached to their eyes. The torpedo passed around the light at high speed. And shortly after, a massive whirlpool formed. Yoon Moo-hwa turned the engines back on to respond to the danger of being swept into the whirlpool.

The ship rocked as waves swept in as if being pulled. The secret to withstanding even 10-meter giant waves was to move with them like one body rather than confronting them. In just a moment, people began vomiting. Everyone struggled to hold on to avoid injuries on the all-steel ship, but their eyes never left the whirlpool—specifically, the angler fish.

“My God…” Haero covered his mouth. The massive whirlpool was created by the angler fish turning its body. The fake ship created by the angler fish’s light distorted like a crude prank, and the already-dead ship in front of it swayed like a roly-poly toy. Then the angler fish turned its body sideways and opened its mouth.

“It’s as big as an island…” It was the size of an aircraft carrier. Haero couldn’t speak anymore.

Everyone held their breath. If they had been inexperienced, they would have focused on what appeared to be either a vessel in need of rescue or an enemy ship. It often looked like the lights of a deep-sea fishing boat at night. But the veterans on the ship, led by Yoon Moo-hwa, weren’t fooled.

They just didn’t know it would be this large. The angler fish blinked its eyes, so dark they were nearly invisible, and repeatedly opened and closed its mouth with gulping sounds. Each time, the sea surged. Even though they were nearby, the waves were strong enough to change the water level. Thanks to its feelers extending to examine its prey more closely, its hideous and terrifying appearance became even more visible. A mouth large enough to swallow a small mountain, terrible teeth like industrial waste…

Nightmares weren’t far away. This sea showed nightmares even without falling asleep. The crew members all held their breath until the angler fish moved away, until its light became as faint as a candle through the sea fog.

Soon, an announcement flowed through the ship that the combat standby had ended. Though their bodies were extremely tired, Haero and the other less experienced crew members had a feeling. That they wouldn’t be able to fall asleep easily tonight.
