HFS 18
by EmerlynThe guild members, after having taken screenshots of their renewed appearances, now gathered in a rush to open their random skill skin boxes. Even Hyutzzi, who had shown no interest in costumes originally, joined them.
[Guild] Jimni: Ugh, please, let it be Genesis!
[Guild] Hyutzzi: If I get it, I’ll sell it to you cheaply.
[Guild] Ittorang: Fighting^^
[Guild] Tiramisush: Ittorang is annoyed ㅇㅅㅇ
[Guild] Heekkom: Is this the composure of someone who already has it?
[Guild] Ittorang: ㅎㅎ
When Cheong-hyeon began showing off his skill effects by casting skills into the air, guild members flocked around him saying they wanted to absorb his luck. Even Seo Hee-won, who didn’t seem like he would believe in such superstitions, subtly positioned himself next to Cheong-hyeon. He must have really wanted the Genesis skin.
[Guild] Heekkom: [Restraint (Archer-Wind)] I’m doomed.
[Guild] Jimni: Me too.
[Guild] Jimni: This is bs.
[Guild] Hyutzzi: Ah…I got the least valuable one.
[Guild] Tiramisush: ㅠㅅㅠ
[Guild] Tiramisush: [Noble(Elementalist-Earth)] Anyone want it?
[Guild] Hyutzzi: Me.
[Guild] Tiramisush: ㅇㅅㅇ…
[Guild] Tiramisush: No selling, you have to raise an earth elementalist to use it.
[Guild] Hyutzzi: Then I don’t want it.
Just as the atmosphere was sinking because no one had gotten anything good, a system message appeared in the chat window.
[Seohee1 has obtained Genesis(Priest-Light) from a Random Effect Skin Box.]
[Guild] Seohee1: **
[Guild] Seohee1: lol lol lol lol
[Guild] Jimni: Sh**
[Guild] Jimni: B**tard
Cheong-hyeon’s eyes opened wide as he confirmed the system message that appeared server-wide. Even after rubbing his eyes and looking again, the effect skin Seo Hee-won had obtained turned out to be Genesis, and it was even the right one for his Priest class.
[Server] Ghostnumber: This is ridiculous f**k
[Server] HawaiianPizza: WhyYouWhyYouWhyYouWhyYou
[Server] TombRaider: Seriously, ease up on the rigging;;;;
[Server] BearSoup: If you’re thinking of selling it, please contact me, brother…
Users who couldn’t congratulate others’ happiness created a commotion by adding comments through the server megaphone. Regardless, without a moment’s hesitation, Seo Hee-won equipped the effect skin and began trying out each skill. Priests already had beautifully designed basic skill effects, but with the Genesis skin equipped, they became even more splendid to the point of being dazzling.
[Guild] Jimni: Wow it’s so f**king beautiful. I’m pissed.
[Guild] Tiramisush: My stomach hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Guild] Heekkom: …
[Guild] Hyutzzi: Using something so expensive right away.
[Guild] Ittorang: What…?
[Guild] Ittorang: Why is that showing up?
While Cheong-hyeon was staring stupidly at the screen, unable to believe what he was seeing:
[Whisper] Seohee1: Hey
Seo Hee-won usually played with whispers disabled, with the excuse that “useless people send unnecessary whispers,” but this was the first time he had initiated a whisper himself.
[Whisper] Seohee1: Tell me your bank account number.
[To Seohee1]: Suddenly?
[To Seohee1]: My personal information?
[Whisper] Seohee1: ㅡㅡ;;
[Whisper] Seohee1: I got Genesis from the box you gave me.
[Whisper] Seohee1: I want to give you a reward, so tell me.
Cheong-hyeon had planned to take credit for life if by some tiny chance Seo Hee-won drew the Genesis skin, but he had no intention of accepting money for it. The random box itself only cost 1,000 won, and since it had already left his hands, Cheong-hyeon considered whatever came out of it to be Seo Hee-won’s. He refused the reward, but he continued to persistently ask for his account number regardless.
[To Seohee1]: Sharing an account number when we don’t even know each other’s phone numbers seems…ㅎㅎ
[Whisper] Seohee1: lol
[Whisper] Seohee1: Your attempt to get my number won’t work.
[Whisper] Seohee1: Just quietly accept the money.
[To Seohee1]: What are you talking about;
[To Seohee1]: I don’t need your number or your money.
[Whisper] Seohee1: You’ll regret it when you find out how much I was going to give you.
[Whisper] Seohee1: I won’t give it to you later even if you ask me again.
The last remark was slightly tempting, but accepting cash still felt uncomfortable. When Cheong-hyeon refused once more, Seo Hee-won finally backed down.
[Whisper] Seohee1: Alright then.
[Whisper] Seohee1: Thank you anyway.
Seeing Seo Hee-won behaving politely like a normal person suggested he was genuinely grateful. Cheong-hyeon smiled mischievously and typed on his keyboard. While he wouldn’t accept the reward money, he couldn’t miss this good opportunity to tease Seo Hee-won.
[Guild] Ittorang: What did you say, Seohee1?
[Guild] Ittorang: You’re whispering so quietly I can’t hear you.
[Guild] Seohee1: Here we go again–
[Guild] Seohee1: I said thank you.
[Guild] Ittorang: Hmm…I think you could say it a bit louder…
[Guild] Seohee1: That’s enough.
[Guild] Ittorang: Well…if you’re only that much grateful, what can I doㅠ
[Guild] Ittorang: Thanks to whom?!
[Guild] Ittorang: Even after getting Genesis, which you can’t buy even with money because there are no listings.
[Guild] Ittorang: I guess you could be just moderately thankfulㅠㅠ!
[Guild] Seohee1: Hah…I told you to just take the money.
[Guild] Seohee1: Wait a moment.
After saying that, Seo Hee-won disappeared briefly into the auction house before reappearing.
[Server] Seohee1: [Genesis(Priest-Light)] I will use it well. Thank you Ittorang^^
[Server] SantaGrandpa: ㄷㄷ Was it a gift?
[Server] InvisibleDragon: A gift? Not extortion?
[Server] 10101: Offering Genesis like that ㅋㅋ legendary sucker.
[Server] LoveMonday: Did he give the random box?
[Server] StrangeHeart: Someone tell Ittorang that Seohee1 is a man.
[Server] Mystic Mine014: [Genesis(Summoner-Dragon)] Selling for 500, firm price.
Cheong-hyeon felt immense satisfaction seeing the usually abrasive Seo Hee-won now docile. Considering the value of Genesis, he could have tormented him much more, but he decided to be content with this for today. After all, seeing Seo Hee-won politely thanking him via server megaphone was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Just when he thought it was over, an email arrived from Seo Hee-won sometime later. Inside was a new costume set and more gold than Cheong-hyeon’s entire fortune.
Looking at it this way, Seo Hee-won seemed unexpectedly kind. Cheong-hyeon accepted the email with a feeling akin to witnessing a cat returning a favor, which gave him a slight sense of emotion.
After that day, Seo Hee-won became quite generous toward Cheong-hyeon. He would take special care of him during boss raids, or hold back his curses when Cheong-hyeon occasionally made mistakes. It was only natural that Cheong-hyeon, who enjoyed these moments with a smirk, gradually became complacent.
“I’ll get some healing and wait for my skills to cooldown.”
Jimni, who had been facing the boss from the front, moved back slightly after the briefing. While Hyutzzi stepped forward to hold the boss in place so it wouldn’t jump to a strange position, other party members also retreated to regroup.
This was the timing for Cheong-hyeon to pull back as well, but…he glanced at the time. Seo Hee-won’s resurrection skill cooldown was almost complete. Cheong-hyeon began to stealthily move behind the boss and continued dealing damage. It was quite a dangerous action, but if he didn’t die, it would shorten the clear time, and even if he did die by chance, Seo Hee-won would resurrect him.
This brazen thinking was a bad habit that developed recently as Seo Hee-won became more lenient. Cheong-hyeon was in the middle of attacking while avoiding the boss’s attack patterns as if performing a precarious acrobatic act. In a moment of carelessness, he took a direct hit from the boss and collapsed before anyone could intervene. Cheong-hyeon’s character turned into a lifeless corpse, fading to gray right next to the boss.
While it was true that he had often pushed his limits before, risking death to deal damage, this was the first time he had actually died. Slightly taken aback, Cheong-hyeon began to apologize.
“Ah, I’m sorry. I pushed too hard…Maybe…”
He was about to ask Seo Hee-won if he could resurrect him.
“Hah…really, what makes you so overconfident?”
An ominous voice cut off Cheong-hyeon’s words. It seemed he had been holding back a lot, as Seo Hee-won finally exploded. Unable to admit that he had been acting out of trust in him, Cheong-hyeon was at a loss for words and closed his mouth.
“With a body that falls into critical condition from one hit, you can’t even use your judgment?”
The truth was that Cheong-hyeon thought even if he died, Seo Hee-won would just sigh once and revive him. It was a misjudgment born from getting used to Seo Hee-won’s special treatment.
In fact, considering Seo Hee-won’s personality, the fact that he had only exploded now meant he had been patient for quite a while. Seo Hee-won began to pour out scathing words without stopping. He seemed to have quite a lot of pent-up anger in him. He did resurrect him in the meantime, which made Cheong-hyeon feel even more guilty.
“Didn’t you see the knight pulling back? Even after the briefing? Where is your mind while playing this game?”
Since it was his fault for deliberately taking risks in a situation where he could have been careful, Cheong-hyeon could only keep apologizing. Even as Cheong-hyeon promised not to push his limits again, Seo Hee-won’s anger showed no signs of stopping.
“Just say you died on purpose to make me angry. If you died because you weren’t thinking while playing, I’d be really f**king pissed.”
